Projects

The projects shown below are some of the highlights from my time as a student. Together they showcase my skills with both mechanical and electrical systems.

Vibration Detection

Vibration Detection and Characterization was my capstone project. My group’s industry sponsor, Aerotech, required a tool to quickly detect inactive or misconfigured Active Vibration Isolation systems. Their desire to avoid maintenance of computer code led us to a mechanical-analog solution. My primary role was to design and build the analog signal processing circuit.

RC Fireworks Car

The Fireworks Launching Car was the product of a semester long project for Mechanical Design II to design and produce a technical data package for a radio-controlled car or lawn tractor. The focus of the design was the drivetrain, suspension, and steering to reinforce our lessons on gears, springs, and bearings. I was the group leader, and I was in charge of the overall model as well as designing the chassis, motor assembly, and front suspension.

EleWait Elevator Interface

The EleWait improved elevator interface was my project for Art of Hands-on System Design Engineering, a course on human centered design and rapid prototyping. The project was intended to demonstrate an improvement to the user experience of existing “smart” elevator interfaces by adding an arrival board of estimated wait times.
